Electrical engineering contractor EPEC has started early site work on two new transformer bays at the New England Solar substation.

A team of a dozen workers has been completing sites surveys, trenching and other excavations, early electrical work and installing new fencing.

The work is required to accommodate two new large transformers that will help connect the New England Solar Battery Energy Storage System and the Stage 2 solar project to the electricity grid.

The work will continue for the rest of year, with the first of the transformers expected on site in early 2025.

Work on the adjacent switching station upgrade and battery storage project is continuing into mid-2025.
